Moon Cake

Moon cakes, better known as "moon cake", are small Chinese pastries traditionally made during the Moon Festival (or Mid-Autumn Festival). They are traditionally round or rectangular, having a relatively thin shell, enveloping a pasty filling.

The original recipe for moon cakes was created over two thousand years ago and is still alive. Currently these pastels play an important role in the festivities that took place during the autumn. Its use has spread to all provinces, and there are even different types at each point of the Chinese territory, and although they are produced by similar methods, the flavors vary considerably.

Here's a recipe for these delicious pastries:
Ingredients:

500 g of wheat flour

250 g of yellow sugar

3 large eggs

2 teaspoons of fennel

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons honey

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon of fine salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 egg yolk

 

Method of preparation

1 - Add the flour to the remaining dry elements, that is; the sugar, the salt, the bicarbonate, the fennel and the cinnamon.

2 - Beat the beaten eggs with the olive oil and the honey and work the dough until it leaves the hands.

Note: If necessary, you can add more flour until the dough is in good consistency for the cakes.

3 - Make some balls or puppets, paint with the egg yolk diluted in a little milk.

4 - Take the bakes in a baking dish sprinkled with flour.

5- Take the preheated oven at medium temperature for 40 minutes to bake and blush.
